Nishtar Medical College is the major hospital providing services to southeast of Punjab . People from places like Dera Ghazi Khan and Dera Ismail travel long distances to get treatment for their loved ones. The Pediatrics department is always over crowded with up to three kids admitted for every bed in the ward. This condition persists in spite of converting a portion of Civil Hospital near Chowk Fawara into Children Hospital .
Dr Pervaiz Akbar khan head of Paediatrics Department submitted extension project for Paediatrics ward last year which was accepted by the NANA Executive Committee after deliberations and subsequently was presented to NANA general baby for Approval and Fundraising last summer Washington DC .
This extension will result in addition of approximately 100 more beds , a neonatology ICU and a class room for students in the basement which will be completed at a latter stage. With the grace of God we raised $50,000 for this project ; amount required for completion of this project . The ground breaking ceremony was performed in January of this year and the first phase is complete. Anticipated completion time is August of this year.
